Brazil's Digital Nomad Visa
Application Checklist
Six phases · 30 steps · roughly eight weeks if you keep moving.
PRINTED — · BRAZILSDIGITALNOMADVISA.COM/CHECKLIST
Always verify current requirements with the Brazilian consulate covering your jurisdiction. This document is informational, not legal advice.
Country-specific links for the background check, apostille, sworn translation, and a live insurance quote — referenced from the phases above.
🇺🇸 United States — FBI Identity History Summary
Cost ~$18. Submit electronically through an FBI-approved channeler (24–48 hr turnaround) or by mail (3–5 business days).

List of FBI-approved channelers →
🇬🇧 United Kingdom — ACRO Police Certificate
Apply directly online. £55 standard, £80 premium (2 working days).
🇨🇦 Canada — RCMP CCRC
Certified Criminal Record Check via fingerprints. Use an RCMP-accredited agency.
🇦🇺 Australia — AFP National Police Check
Federal-level check, accepted internationally.
Other nationalities: ask the Brazilian consulate covering your jurisdiction which document they accept (typically the federal police equivalent in your country).
An apostille is a small certificate attached to your document by your country's competent authority under the Hague Convention. Brazil is a Hague signatory and accepts apostilles in lieu of consular legalisation.
🇺🇸 United States
Two paths depending on the document:
U.S. State Dept — Authentications →
Form DS-4194 (PDF) →
NASS — Find your state's Secretary of State →
🇬🇧 United Kingdom — FCDO Legalisation Office
All UK documents (including ACRO) go through the FCDO. Standard service ~3 working days, premium same-day in Milton Keynes.
🇨🇦 Canada
Canada joined the Hague Apostille Convention in 2024. Federal docs are apostilled by Global Affairs Canada; provincial docs by each province's authentication body.
🇦🇺 Australia — DFAT
Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade issues apostilles. In-person or mail.
Tip: many private apostille services (Monument, National Apostille, etc.) handle the entire process for $50–150 per document. Worth it if you're juggling 4–5 documents and don't want to coordinate state and federal mail.
A tradutor juramentado (Tradutor Público e Intérprete Comercial / TPIC) is a publicly licensed translator who passed Brazil's competitive exam. Each state's Junta Comercial maintains the official register, but a translator licensed in any state can serve documents nationwide.
Typical price: R$60–100 per page (~USD 12–20). Many translators accept scans by email and return the sworn translation by signed PDF + courier of the original.
Live SafetyWing pricing — coverage well above the visa's USD 30,000 minimum. Most nomads under 40 land between USD 45–80/month.
