Accessibility Statement.

Conformance target

This site aspires to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as published by the W3C. WCAG 2.1 AA is the technical standard referenced by the U.S. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidance, the European Accessibility Act (EAA), the UK Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations, and most other national accessibility frameworks.

Current status: we believe the site is substantially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. We have not yet completed a formal third-party audit. This statement will be revised if and when that audit is performed.

What we've done

• Semantic HTML. Pages use the correct landmark elements (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <article>, <footer>) and exactly one <h1> per page, with a logical heading hierarchy.
• Alt text. Every content image carries a meaningful alt attribute; decorative images use alt="" or aria-hidden="true".
• Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements (links, buttons, the checklist's checkboxes, the cookie banner buttons) are reachable and operable by keyboard alone. Focus order matches reading order.
• Color contrast. Body text on cream paper, navy buttons, and white text on the deep-green checklist hero all meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA's 4.5:1 minimum for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
• Resizable text. Layout reflows cleanly at 200% browser zoom and on mobile viewports as narrow as 320 pixels.
• Form labels. Every form field on the contact page has an explicit <label>. Required fields are marked. The honeypot anti-spam field is hidden from screen readers via aria-hidden.
• Skip-to-content behavior. The site's logo-link returns visitors to the home page; the top of every page begins with the navigation, then the article.
• Reduced motion. The cookie banner's slide-up animation respects the operating-system motion-reduction preference where the browser supports it.
• Print stylesheet. The interactive checklist has a dedicated print stylesheet with hairline-divided list items and visible checkbox states, so the saved PDF remains usable.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following items that may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. Each is documented here as part of our good-faith effort, and we are working to resolve them.

• Embedded third-party widgets. The SafetyWing price widget on the checklist page is rendered from a third-party script. We do not control its internal accessibility. If it presents a barrier for you, the same insurance information is available in plain text on the page above the widget, and you can also go directly to SafetyWing's website to get a quote.
• Cookie consent banner. The banner is dismissable by keyboard, but the dialog does not currently trap focus while open. If you reach the banner with a screen reader, you can use Tab to reach the Accept / Decline buttons and press Enter.
• Brazilian Portuguese pronunciation. Some content includes Portuguese words and place names (e.g., Florianópolis, cafezinho, tradutor juramentado). Screen readers using English voice profiles will pronounce these phonetically rather than in Portuguese.

Assistive technology tested

This site has been informally tested with:

• Screen readers: VoiceOver (macOS / iOS) and TalkBack (Android) on Safari and Chrome.
• Keyboard-only navigation on Chrome, Firefox, and Safari (desktop).
• 200% browser zoom on Chrome and Safari desktop.
• Mobile screen widths down to 320 pixels.

It has not yet been audited with JAWS, NVDA, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, or by a third-party accessibility consultancy.

Reporting an accessibility problem

If you encounter content on this site that you cannot access, or if a feature does not work with your assistive technology, please tell us. We treat accessibility reports as priority and will respond within 5 business days.

The fastest way is to email accessibility@nomademedia.travel with:

• The page where you encountered the issue (URL or page title)
• A brief description of what you were trying to do
• The assistive technology you were using (e.g., VoiceOver on iPhone, NVDA on Windows)

You can also use the contact form and choose "General question" as the topic, write "Accessibility" in the message.

Formal complaints

If your accessibility concern is not resolved to your satisfaction through the steps above and you are located in the United States, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. In the European Union, you may contact the accessibility-monitoring body for your member state. In Brazil, the equivalent protections sit under the Lei Brasileira de Inclusão (Law 13.146/2015).

This accessibility statement is provided as a good-faith summary of current practice and aspirations. It is not a legal warranty of conformance. We expect to revise this document as the site evolves, as automated and manual audits surface findings, and as the accessibility standards themselves evolve.
